Mistakes
00:44
|
|||
i tried to erase
a time i took up too much space
i made a mistake
and now i’m trying to catch a break
mistakes are good!
misunderstood in this day and age
you could learn a lesson and never repeat
so pick yourself up on your feet

That Bird
01:41
|
|||
it’s time to:
take a look
read a book
take a walk
‘round the block
write some words and hear the birds
i wish i could be that bird
i’m sure i could rest assured
till this is done and over
flip a bit
take the hit
think a lot
connect the dots
i hope they tune into it fast
and bail out the working class
look in this looking glass
what is this crisis coming to?
how much damage till it’s past?
how long a shadow will this cast?
consider this and:
take a look
read a book
take a walk
around the block
write some words and hear the birds
i know i could be that bird
i’m sure i’d be reassured
till this is done and over with

Hydrangeas
01:34
|
|||
hydrangeas in range across the street
i’d linger but i’m on my feet
lookin' at me with those outstretched leaves
so consciously you’d best believe
no stop & shop, i’m a passerby
but through my nose you’ve caught my eye, mm
if i found somebody to find you for
i’d walk right in not close the door
oh, how the colors change
hydrangeas, it’s strange, you’ve made my day
alas, i must be on my way

Waxing Crescent
02:31
|
|||
peeking over the neighbor’s fence
forsythia suspensa’s a wonderful color
the warmth of the sun
happiness is a warm one
forsythia, i’m with ya
the first to bloom in spring
botany, it got to me
the yellow blossoms sing
“la dee da da”
//
i’m calling out for cynthia in potent morning dreams
i stay awake too late i’m last
to rise it always seems
no surprises, nor new horizons
forestall the coming slumber
with waning wherewithal
to forge ahead, get back to bed
i’m giving it my all to be present
a waxing crescent

Slow Genius
02:17
|
|||
she’s a slow genius
speed’s her only weakness
takin all her time, she’s
slow and steady winning her race
at a gentle pace
she’s a slow genius
living up so lenient
she doesn’t deal with deadlines
don’t ya know she’s doing just fine
she’s got that peace of mind
he’s a stable genius
thinking with his penis
jacking off the oval office
and he set it on fire
he’s a pathological liar
he’s asinine and heinous
behaving like an anus
even so, the onus isn’t only on him
all the republicans
compare this to her diligence
genuine intelligence
he’s a fucking weenus
still hasn’t conceded
her eyes are on the job
i swear she isn’t slacking off
she’s just deep in thought

Better Days
02:50
|
|||
down in the garden
where dirt becomes desirable
my heart would not harden
for anyone in the world
good taste in vegetation
still i kept on waiting
with great expectations
this galactic girdle
i sat in tacit, turning past it
weary mornings almost had it
rise & shine before it’s time for sleep
eventually…
down in the darkest
winter in the arctic
day to day the mundane
circling the drain
purple hibiscus, whiskin' us away
help me land a helping hand
i’ve seen better days
this color pallets swirling around it
tables turned, i lost and found it
seed it grow it through an infant’s eyes
good, good times
now we’re free, free to leave
free to say come what may
i can see the light is green
i recall those tender scenes

Magnolia
01:08
|
|||
brookdale’s blanketed in snow
but a thin one, not a wonderland
lookin at small trees,
they’re still bigger than me
dead leaves and thorns
in the summer they’ll be born again
enchanting pink
the missing link
between us and the forest before us
isn’t it a chorus?
hey magnolia, what do you think?
spring is a reawakening

Morningside
03:52
|
|||
sunset park in the morning time
head over the hudson to the other side
to morningside park
yeah i passed it on my bicycle
as the day was getting dark
riding back from work
across the corner above the hill
the beckoning border, it seemed so still
the hustle and the bustle, the crimson rustle
nestled up in harlem
my friends, they live on 109
one of us mentioned the recent crime
it was there that she was cornered, doctors ordered
walking back from barnard
i'm mourning their loss
i can’t toss how they killed her
took her with a knife
took away her life
the precipice is forming
the more you’re mourning
the mortal of the story
parked my bike on the long green lawn
searching for something at the break of dawn
morning-star light
sitting stark in the skyline
the ninth inning of the night
a million miles apart from morningside park
so beautiful in namesake, so calm at daybreak
nestled up in harlem

Visitor
03:12
|
|||
i spy a firefly, a lantern, a choir
walkin’ around till i’m too tired
from brookdale to yantecaw, to ketzel and connor’s
a good way to wander with the brook down yonder
picture a promenade from park to park
hello! from the yellow squares
to the stone-clad stairs stepping down so scared
i remember my first time there
i’ve got a memory of alanzo bonsal
felt like i was finding fossils
the moonlight, the melody
the sundries and song here
i’m just a visitor, i won’t be long here
church bells bringin’ in the barred owl’s day
not so welcoming when i was afraid
there’s nothing dangerous about this place
the streets in the summer
the silence
the thunder
i walk and i wander unencumbered
