1.
If you hold yourself still and silent now you can feel that river running behind running through the night running through all time It's good to have music near a river better yet! it's good to have music near a place where two rivers come together a confluence! for what are we but a confluence (yeah!) for what are we but a confluence? a confluence that lives, and breathes a confluence of dream, and song a confluence of twenty two thousand beating hearts and so here we are, cradled by a river in a sanctuary of sound
2.
I'm tired I've been waiting for you I'm so tired that I need to lay down but you're traveling highspeeds and you're fast, too fast to chase anymore anymore
3.
The thin horizon of a plan is almost clear My friends and I have had a tough time Bruisin' our brains, heart up against change *bark* all the old dogs and the magicians! Now you see we're in the boat, in two by twos Only the heart that we had for a tool we could use And the very close quarters are hard to get used to Love weighs the hull down with its weight But the wood is tired and the wood is old and we'll make it fine if the weather holds but if the weather holds then we'll miss the point that's where I need to go eyyyy what it takes to cross the great divide seems more than all the courage I could muster up inside and though we get to have some answers when we reach the other side prize is always worth the rock ride! But the wood is tired and the wood is old and we'll make it fine if the weather holds but if the weather holds then we'll miss the point that's where I need to go
4.
I'm up in the woods I'm down on my mind I'm building a still to slow down the time

(I miss ya, and I need ya now) I could make you want me, make you need me, make you mine I could make it holy, make it special, make it right I could make you want me, make you need me all the time I could make it holy make it...fine well I never did wrong well I never did wrong did i ever, ever, EVER do you wrong? I could make you want me make you need me all the time (I miss ya, and I need ya now)
7.
in due time, if i keep myself intact I could smile upon the day that we first met I met a good impression, but sheesh, I learned my lesson and I promise that I'll never, ever look back but for years to come in the morning I might think you're the best thing that I almost had in due time, if I gain some self respect I could wave to ya after class as I walk past but I mace a quick decision and I averted my stride on a quick one I flee before admiration will likely pass but for year to come in the morning I might think you're the best thing that I almost had

about

I curated this album around songs by bands that I saw play at the inaugural Eaux Claires festival in 2015. I originally called it "Eaux Montclair," so as to play on the name of the festival, draw some sort of musical parallel between Justin Vernon's hometown and my own, and in doing so pay tribute to an artist who has had such a profound influence on the ways I think about music. Now it's just "Eaux M," which is less suggestive of any place in particular. Coincidentally, it also sounds a lot like the letters "O M," or literally the word "om"! It harkens to zen and peace of mind.

That's sort of what this album tells a story about: being patient and not growing too attached to things. These are things that I don't always do. This isn't low-energy music but it has a profound calming effect for me. I think it might for you, too.

I've spent the last four years carving out a sound for myself, and these recordings feel like the best expression of it to date. Thank you for listening.
